Weekend

This weekend Greg and I were in Van to visit Michael (who moved there to become a hotshot accountant). We did a lot of stuff and saw lots of friends, and had a great surprise when we ran into Briana on Robson! I hadn't seen her since before I left for Cairo in January so it was really great to catch up! It was also Elliott's first b-day, and he really lucked out with the weather for his party today! Here are a few pics (the ones of sealife are from the aquarium!)

Lock and Load...

Today was the last day of summer :(
I tried to take some shots of some bunnies at uvic on my walk home from the bus, but they weren't co-operating. But I saw these locks on the school fence and played around a little....

I've seen the Snowbirds maybe 6 times in my life, and now twice in the last 2 months!!

Here they are today performing for BC's 150th birthday. They are sooooo cool- I'm going to see if they're accepting applications! (The video is totally unedited...but it shows the flying pretty well.....maybe you could hum 'Danger Zone' to yourself while you're watching it!)

baby blue

Wow, it's been a long time since I've written anything! I'm still in BC (YAY!) and it sounds like I might be here a while longer- as the hotel in Cairo isn't quiiiiiite ready yet.... and you can see how hard the workers are working, so I'm not sure what's taking so long ;) I'm not complaining though..it means I''ll probably get to be here for Thanksgiving (my favourite holiday!!) which also happens to be marathon weekend! If I can get my hip working again I might sign up for the 8K- it's one of my favourite races.

Since I wrote last I've been mostly working, but having some fun too! Last weekend, Nicky, Dave, Jill, Greg and I climbed Mt Finlayson, I've eaten sushi 3 times this week and I've seen a couple of movies- The women, which was not good- if you really must see it, wait for the DVD...and Erin and I saw Ghost Town tonight, which was really funny- it's defintely worth seeing in the theatre.

In other news, I went out today to buy some external storage for my computer, and came home with a new camera! Not the digital SLR I've been wanting, but a much cheaper non-SLR one-- it was on sale and it was recommended to me by a photographer friend-- it is much smaller and lighter than my old one and it's got way more megapixels so it'll definitley tide me over till I finally figure out which one I want. PLUS... it's baby blue and matches my bike!

I'll post some more pics later or tomorrow.... bye for now!!! C

A few more weeks in BC...

I know, I know, I have been a very very bad blogger lately. It's late and I should be in bed, but I just got off the phone with expedia changing flights so I thought I would write a quick update while I was thinking of it. Why was I changing flights you ask? Welllll....I'm still in BC, and will be here probably till the end of September- since things are a bit slow in Cairo at the moment, my old HR team let me come back and help them for a few weeks! It's been SO great seeing everyone again- I really missed them :( I also missed the cafeteria at the hotel....yesterday was burrito day...mmmmm.

Besides getting back into the swing of things at work, I've been trying to make the most of the last few days of sunshine we've been having, spending lots of time outside.

I haven't been running or swimming as much as I should have been the last week- I've been a bit lazy and caught the little devil on my shoulder using lame excuses trying to convince the little angel on the other side not to excercise.....like forgetting my swim cap (a new one at the Y is about $3), but I just need to keep reminding myself that it's a luxury and a privelege to be about to run outside and not get hit by cars and breathe clean air while doing it... same with having a great coach and a whole team of fab ladies to swim with...soooooo tomorrow night I'm going to swim practice no matter what, AND I'm going to run on thursday. I also have plans to start riding my bike to work, but we'll see how that goes- you know how I feel about biking...

Tonight I saw the newest Batman movie, Dark Knight-- it was a little long and violent for me, but if you like shooting, punching, car chases, and men in makeup, you'd probably enjoy it quite a bit!

Okay I should get to sleep, but I'll post some pics and a more newsy, coherent post in the next few days...

Hope you're all doing well...byeeeeee

Hats off to Nat!

With the chilly weather we've been having recently, I think we could all use a good hat to keep us warm, and what better place to get one than KOI, my friend Natalie's company! Nat's creations are all hand-made and she crochets them using cotton, bamboo and merino. As you can see, they're super stylish (my favourites are the ones with flames) and she makes them for kids and babies too so they make great shower or new baby gifts! To get one (or many!) of your own, you can email Nat or buy one at Style Bridge on Broughton.
